Introduction
The Spanish American war was a time that the United State waged against Spain. The war lasted for about four months, from April 25 to August 12. On April 21, 1898, the United States declared war against Spain following the sinking of the Battleship Maine in the Havana harbor on February 15, 1898. The U.S. also supported the ongoing struggle of Cuba, Puerto Rico and the Philippines for independence against Spanish rule
Why Did The War Happen?
The United States were supporting the Cuban rebels fighting for their Independence against Spain. The American public grew angry over Spanish atrocities reported against Cuba and after the mysterious sinking of the US warship "Maine," in Havana harbor. After the sinking of the USS Maine, war was declared between United States and Spain.
What Happen During The War?
The Spanish were blamed for the sinking of the USS Maine. The yellow journalism over exaggerating which led to this war. During the war, we took over the Philippines and Cuba. We turn over the countries to the local people.
